The sport of snowboarding was born in the U.S., and the heart and soul of the sport is "going out riding" with your friends. The ESPN/Airwalk FreeRide Snowboard Championships has been designed to capture that spirit by offering world-class competition in the disciplines which best reflect the sport, including Halfpipe, Slopestyle, Triple Big Air and the LXD signature event, the FreeRide, which changes from venue to venue to challenge rider's skills in a variety of terrain.
In Aspen, the first stop on a three-event tour, the FreeRide Championships will also serve as a qualifier for the 1998 ESPN Winter-X Games at Crested Butte, Colo. while providing a forum for the best
PRIZE MONEY:
75,000 per event will be available.
TELEVISION:
Up to 18 hours of programming on the world's leading sports network, ESPN as well as broadcasts on ESPN International.
REGISTRATION:
To pre-register, call 310-589-0733. Competitors will also be able to register at the mountain on Wednesday and Thursday from 8am - 3pm. On-Site registration maybe limited due to tournament capacities.
