Anton Wins One!
by Peter Foley
(January 2, 1997)

Anton won the slalom today at Mt. St. Anne by almost 2 seconds. After Anton smoked everyone on the first run, the Austrian coach decided to set an extra cranky 2nd run thinking maybe Anton couldn't handle it, but it didn't turn out that way. Anton ripped through the rutty turny course to victory. At the finish he was singing "I'm rich, I'm rich..........I hope."

We arrived at Mt. St Anne on tuesday night from Zurich. It was 25 degrees below zero here for the first two days, but a snowstorm moved in last night and it warmed up to a balmy 15 degrees today. GS tomorrow, Halfpipe on Sunday then off to Mt. Bachelor on Monday. We've been Watching the X games at night, cheering on Ross Jimi and Kinger. Ross qualified 6th in the slopestyle yesterday ahead of Jim Rippey.
