KAMLOOPS, B.C. -- Sondra Van Ert (Ketchum, ID) rebounded from a 9th place first run to finish 3rd place overall in the FIS World Cup women's giant slalom event at the Sun Peaks Ski Resort on Friday.

On the men's side it appeared Jeff Greenwood (Granby, CT) had won the giant slalom, however he started a turn too early and missed a gate thereby disqualifying him leaving Mike Jacoby (Hood River, OR) to lead the U.S. men with a 4th place finish.

Competition continues today at Sun Peaks with the parallel- slalom event and winds up on Sunday with the halfpipe.
