(Continued) Halfpipe Finals: And the Winner Is...

The young newcomer Pasi Voho came out of the start like a race horse, charging up the first wall with too much speed and flying high, but sketching a bit on the way down. Jimi Scott followed with a run that was probably his strongest of the day. A frontside stiffy, a smooth seven, and a lot of other tricks that Jimi pulled out of his bag of contest magic earned him a lot of media attention, but didn't win the judges over.

Todd had a very solid first run pulling some big airs and really milking every inch of the wall. Sebu Kuhlberg had a good first run with a 720 and a clean backside McTwist 540. Daniel followed Sebu with a perfect upside down 540 going bigger than most everyone that day and performing beautifully both technically and difficulty level of the tricks. Fabian Rohrer followed with an invert off the first wall, a move he pulled every run, followed by a huge backside air.

And then there was Terje, the legend. Sometimes we journalists have to ask ourselves if we are Terje jaded, or if Terje is really overwhelmingly awesome. He must be, as he pulled the most insanely huge methods at the top of the pipe. There is no doubt that Terje wins hands down in the height category, however, there was a murmur in the crowd that he didn't pull any of the new tricks he had been practicing earlier in the week during the practice sessions. In Terje's second run he cased and went straight to the flatbottom as he seemed to be looking toward his next move. The fall was bad enough to pause his run entirely, but like the true competitor that he is, he scaled the wall with a hand from the audience, and completed his run.

As the results were called out it became apparent that there were several discrepancies: namely, Daniel Franck. The entire crowd new that he rode well and when his name wasn't mentioned in the top three a gasp went out. Terje, Todd, and Fabian all deserved top spots, however, Daniel definitely deserved better than seventh. But it was a contest and the judges do get the final word.
