Sims World Champs Invitation Request Deadline Extended February 28, 2000
WHISTLER, BC, February 28, 2000 � The Athlete Selection Committee for the Sims Invitational World Snowboarding Championship (The Worlds), to be held in Whistler, BC April 20-23, 2000, has announced that the deadline for requests for invitation has been extended until Friday, March 3, 2000. Additionally, the prize purse for this event has been increased to $230,000 USD, making this the largest purse prize for any snowboarding event in North America.
In response to requests from several team managers for more time to submit invitations, the Athlete Selection Committee has decided to meet that demand by extending the deadline until Friday, March 3.
The Athlete Selection Committee will invite the primary field of riders based on 1999/2000 results from the world�s most important events. A limited number of "Wild Card" start positions are also available.

The launch party for The Worlds will take place at the Snowsports Industries America trade show in Vegas this Sunday, March 5, 2000 at Babies Nightclub in the Hard Rock Caf�. The party, dubbed "Extended Play" and presented by Sims and Whistler/Blackcomb, will re-create a typical Whistler mega-party and will feature deejays and dancers imported from the mountain resort town. The party will promote Whistler/Blackcomb�s "Extended Play" season in April/May, and will launch The World�s, taking place during April.
The World Snowboarding Championship will take centre stage at Whistler�s TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival, April 14-23, 2000. Whistler�s legendary spring Festival is now firmly established as North America�s largest winter sports event. For ten unforgettable days and nights, Whistler will be infused by a youthful energy surrounding 28 events, 50 live bands and deejays, celebrity events, film premieres, demo days and an action-sports photography showdown.
