Winter Park Snowboard Series Expands January 9, 2001
Back for the fourth consecutive season, the Winter Park Snowboard Series combines snowboard cross, slopestyle, mogul, and halfpipe events, creating an exciting atmosphere for competitors and spectators alike. Due to many requests over the past couple of years, a ski or "freeride" segment has been added to the series. Four freeride events have been added to the schedule: skier cross, halfpipe, mogul, and slopestyle events. The series will kick off Saturday, Jan. 13 with a skier-cross event. A snowboard-cross, the second of nine events, follows on Sunday, Jan. 14.
Competitors may also battle for the overall series title as points are accumulated with each event. All participants are entered into a raffle drawing following events as well as a grand finale raffle at the end of the series. Registration for multiple events increase the chance of winning. Four grand prizes will be raffled at the season finale Apr. 21. The top prize for competitors 21 and older is a trip for two to the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. The trip includes lodging for two nights, airfare, one dinner, and one breakfast.
Cost for the entire series is $120 and $25 for a single event. Participants receive $5 off the registration price if signed up by 12 p.m. on the Friday prior to the event. Riders and skiers under the age of 14 receive $10 off single event registration fees. Discounted lift tickets are available for competitors.
