KickAspen Big Air and Wild Dash for Cash By Press Release March 19, 2001
Aspen/Snowmass Village, Colo. - The 2nd Annual KickAspen Big Air Invitational and the 2nd Annual Wild Dash for Cash return to Aspen on March 31 to kick off the 180 Aspen Spring Jam and the opening of Aspen Mountain to snowboarding on April 1. The KickAspen Big Air Invitational promises to be one of the most impressive big air events of the season, featuring top freestyle snowboarders performing breathtaking aerial jumps at the base of Aspen Mountain. The combination of world class competition, top prize money, DJ's and post event party will showcase today's snowboarding culture. The competition runs from 3-4:30 p.m. followed by live music from 4:30 - 6 p.m and a post party at 7 p.m.
Professional athletes competing include Chad Otterstrom, and Gabe Taylor. Local talent includes Ryan Lougee. Prize money is $13,000 with $5,000 for 1st place, $1,000 for 2nd place, $500 for 3rd place. DJ Jimmy will be spinning during the competition followed by performances by Souls of Mischief and Pep Love of Hieroglyphics and a post party with Razel's DJ JS1.
Aspen Mountain opens to snowboarding on April 1, 2001, with free donuts and coffee, opening ceremonies, public jams, demos, mountain tours, live music, a public barbecue, parties and ton's of prize giveaways. The music line-up includes Warsaw, Del, Casual, Sucker and an evening concert at the Double Diamond with Sucker and Hieroglyphics.
