Hammer Takes Mtn. High Triple Air By Press Release January 22, 2002
Did he pay the judges? No...He didn't need to. Matt Hammer unquestionably claimed first in Mountain High's recent Chevy Trucks $10,000 Pro/Am Triple Air taking home a Sparklet's water bottle filled with cash! The winning run consisted of a Backside Corked 540, a Switch Front Side Corked and a Front Side 540, all clean. Sharing the podium with him were Tim Alexander (2nd) and Danny Williams (3rd) who had incredible runs as well and received a combination of cash and prizes. When questioned about his win, Hammer replied, "It's all part of the Lord's plan."
"The Triple Air is a signature event at Mountain High and one we look forward to every year," states John McColly, Marketing Director. This season marks the 4th year Mountain High has hosted the event and the competition never ceases to improve. In the Triple Air, riders are forced to bring their entire bag of tricks because, unlike a traditional Big Air Jump, they must tackle all three to make it to the winner's circle. This season, each jump was 50 to 60 feet long and competitors were judged on an overall combination of amplitude, style and landing.
