SIA Snow Show and On Snow Demo (Undercover!) (1-19-24-97) Airwalk and Burton Step Out of Step-In Market For Another Year (10-15-96) |
By now it should come as no surprise that women are the the fastest growing segment of riders. Anyone who has been following the sport has seen the participation and skills of women closing the gap--to the point where it's not much of a story anymore. With the demands women are putting on their equipment, Burton continues to produce products that meet their needs. From women's boots to Outer Layer, Burton has been working closely with the best female riders in the world. With better equipment available, more women are riding and fueling the momentum. Snowboard boots are one of the toughest products to get dialed--and they have a huge effect on performance and comfort. Over six years of team testing, Burton has continually re-worked their women's boots--solving difficult fit issues, and offering a range of models to suit different riding styles. From the new all-mountain Moto Boot to the top-end, super-supportive Drifter--women can choose between five of the most comfortable, team-tested designs Burton has ever made. There are no women's specific boards or bindings, but Burton constantly works with their teamriders to dial in board dimensions, flexes, and bindings that work perfectly for smaller, lighter riders. Shannon Dunn, Victoria Jealouse, and Cara-Beth Burnside each designed pro-model snowboards specifically for the way they ride. Their boards are popular with both women and men who have similar riding styles. World Champion riders like Betsy Shaw, Satu Jarvela, and Nicole Angelrath work closely with Burton design teams on a range of board models. Burton's women-specific Outer Layer was developed out of feedback from teamriders who weren't finding the fit they wanted in unisex clothing. After years of refining the cut of women's clothing, Burton has a range of functional, fully-featured gear that really works for snowboarding--and has the added benefit of making women look less like adolescent boys on the hill. Burton's super-technical Tri-Lite Outer Layer is available this year in women's cuts after the successful introduction of unisex Tri-Lite gear in '97. Every women's jacket, pant, and glove in every category is designed with all of the features that go into our unisex clothing--because riding doesn't change, just the shape of the rider. Burton will continue to develop functional gear for women, men, and riders of all sizes, abilities, and styles--because you can only go big when the little details have been worked out to your advantage. |
