ORANGE, Calif.-- Vans, Inc. (Nasdaq:VANS) today announced that Gordon C. ("Butch") Lee, Jr. has been named Vice President-National Sales. Mr. Lee has assumed responsibility for sales to accounts throughout the United States. Mr. Lee previously was Vice President-Sales, Western Division of the Company. With his additional responsibilities, he replaces Marc A. Gold, who was Vice President-Sales, Eastern Division. Mr. Gold has left Vans to pursue other opportunities.

Walter E. Schoenfeld, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said "Business is strong in all channels, and as we continue to consolidate and focus our national sales strategy, we felt it prudent and necessary to place National Sales under the supervision of one person. Butch has a great deal of experience in sales and thoroughly understands the direction the Company is taking."

Vans, Inc. is a branded manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer of high quality, stylish-casual and active casual footwear, as well as performance footwear for enthusiast sports and snowboard boots, through a distribution system that includes a network of independent and national retailers, international distributors for 65 countries, and 83 Company-owned stores and factory outlets. The Company sources its footwear from third party foreign manufacturers and the Company's own 90,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Vista, California.
