Holly Smith's Got an Older Appeal
3.7.97

After searching for women's snowboard clothing that didn't make her like a teenager, Kim Dvorak, along with co-founder and designer Holly Hornung, decided to launch their own line of technical women's snowboard clothes targeted for women 25 to 40 years old.

"We're like the older women in snowboarding," explained Holly and Kim, about their company's philosophy. Although some people wouldn't consider 28 and 29 old, a majority of women's snowboard clothing is targeted for girls in their teens with daisies, short jackets, and baggy jean pants.

What makes Holly Smith clothing unique is the use of hip colors like lime, black, and burgundy with a classy design—long, sleek, fitted jackets and pants. The technical part is what's surprising. Holly Smith's best-selling coat from their Starlet line has features like removable powder skirts and hoods, and a Triad Laminate waterproof fabric that's more hardcore than it looks.

"Cross-over skiers are stoked on our style," says Holly. "And our stuff doesn't look like your younger sister's outfit."
