SOL Snaps From The ASR Show '96

ASR Vert Ramp Demo

Skaters riding for the 2000 plus
crowd. In fact, when the skating
was on, the aisles were empty.

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm not down with all the skateboarders on the vert ramp today, but they were flying way up in the air and spinning and looking fresh. T-Mag, owner of Evol Snowboards and Skateboards was even at the ramp keeping it real for the old school.

The clown prince of
pro skateboarding,
Simon Woodstock
pressing the teddy
flesh.

Simon Woodstock & His Fur Teddy

Simon Woodstock, the guy who was supposed to box Shaun Palmer last spring at the SIA show in Las Vegas was cruising the isles in any number of suits. This is his cuddly teddy bear suit. Earlier he was seen in a vinyl suit covered entirely in pennies.

Yes, if you're wondering he's a skateboarder.

Belligerent Bindings

The quick in/quick out Belligerent
binding. Two straps in one.

It's not a step-in, but it's a binding that looks a lot easier to get into. Instead of having to buckle two different ratchets, the Belligerent Binding has a small bar that hooks under a latch near the toe and then rocks back into a ratchet near the heel.

It hard to tell how well they're going to work, but the idea looks great.

TB5 Aftermath

"We're bummed cause we've been
drunk for over a week, and this
is the first sober night," says
Billy Anderson.

Billy Anderson, Bjorn Leines, and Jeff Anderson hanging out front of Spreckels Theater after the double feature premiere of Standard Films TB5 and Mack Dawgs Stomping Grounds. They weren't in the movie, but they were all stoked by both films.

Flesh Merchants

While the show is called the Action Sports Show, a lot of the action hinges around the modeling of small bits of stretchy fabric covering large bits of flesh. This more than any snowboard equipment seems to keep the attention of the crowds.

We don't really understand it. ;-)

Drifter & TB5 Stars Lurking

Chris Engelsman, featured Drifters rider, and Brian Savard who did some stunt work in TB5 lounging in the lobby after the Drifters premiere.

Fly Girls (You Know The Ones)

What can you say? Two more SOL members cruising the aisles. Yes, they have AOL accounts. Maybe, they'll even send us their names (screennames?) when they see this.

California Girlz

Okay, so there was this snowboard booth and right next to it there was this. . . yeah, we admit it, we got just a little distracted.

Sorry, mom.
