SOL's crew will be live at Kamp KOME, hanging out with dare-devil snowboarders who'll huck themselves repeatedly from a 90 foot high mountain of chipped ice. We'll bring you photos of their cunning stunts plus live chats with some of snowboarding's top pros in the SOL Talk Box. The event, presented by On Board Entertainment and sponsored by Levi's 501 Jeans starts at 4 PM and continues on into the night with bands, BMX/In-line performances, and the World Championship Big Air Snowboard Demo. All the profits raised during the event will be going to the Snowrider Project, a new division of the Surfrider Foundation. The kicker, designed by OBE with help from Dave Olcott and Stimilon, is billed as the largest snowboard ramp in America, and the 2nd largest in the world. The ramp is 250 feet long and 50 feet wide. It has a 90 foot drop from top to bottom, side walls, snow-carpet, and 20 tons of ice chipped snow on top. 30 pro riders are confirmed including Jim Rippey, Mike Basich, Dave Lee, Aaron Vincent, Elliot Olsen, Chris Novak, Juha Tenkku, Randy Gaetaneo, Chris Roach, Lance Pitman, Seth Miller, Barrett Christy, Wendy Powell, Athena, Martina Tscharner & many more... Bands set to entertain the rowdy 90s youth include Beck, Goo Goo Dolls, 311, Filter, No Doubt, Goldfinger, No Use For A Name, 7 Mary 3, Magnapop, Dishwalla, Gravity Kills, Local H, Sprung Monkey, Soda, Salmon, & Smashmouth. This promises to be the alterna-board fest of the summer. It will probably be fun anyway. The amphitheater holds 19,000 and is expected to sell out so get your tickets early. But do not worry: if you're not there we'll bring it back to you live and remote. Stay tuned. For info on Kamp KOME:
