A Dumb Day At Kirkwood (1-13-97)
East Meets West (12-16-96)
SCHEDULE

The second annual Sam Goody UnVailed '97, self professed as the 'Ultimate Band and Board Event' gets underway March 27-29 in Vail, Colorado. Over the weekend, by invitation only, 37 of the world's best snowboarders including US Open Halfpipe Champion Todd Richards, Joe Curtes, Jim Rippey, US Open Champion Barrett Christy, Cara Beth Burnside and Megan Pischke will go big in UnVailed's original half-park freestyle course.

Welcome to the second annual UnVailed band and board event. Dobson Arena rocked to a sellout crowd of spring breakers, Rocky Mountain music lovers and snowboarders alike that came out to play.

This one-of-a-kind freestyle course places tabletops, transfers and big-air kickers of a snowboard park into a steep double-barrel halfpipe. Riders are given as many runs as they want to show off their best.

In addition to the snowboard competition, the nights are filled with the live music. National recording artists Morphine, Rusted Root, Leah Andreone, Dinosaur Jr., L7, and Bloodhound Gang will headline a group of unsigned bands banging it out for the title of best unsigned band, a national television appearance and $10,000.

Watch for SOL's coverage of UnVailed 1997, bringing you all of the action both on and off the slopes.
