Snowboard Life Top 25: Burton Custom

November 6, 2000

In its sixth year of production, Burtons Custom is the cant-go-wrong ruler for all walks of snowboarding life. Kevin almost called it quits when the Customs number came up, pronouncing, "The test is over." With increased sidecut for 2001, a lightweight Burton woodcore, and lengths running from 142 to 168 cm, the Custom is the one ride to always have on hand. Kurt called it his "take anywhere, do anything board." Winning points with the test-team pros, Neal hit the nail on the head, crowning the Custom a "perfect freestyle all-arounder." The Custom is undoubtedly one of the best-designed snowboards ever, but it does take a certain spark from the rider to light it up.
