You’re searching the radio and happen to land on a real solid drumbeat that has your foot tapping on the floor. The beat is suddenly complemented by a funky bass line, so now your whole leg is bouncing to the rhythm. Before you know it, the track gets laced by the licks of rhythm guitar, and it seems your hips are shaking back and forth with your legs. Next, the song gets shocked by the electricity of a Roland VK7 organ solo that sends your whole body into a funk wiggle. Then the song evolves into a melodic sax solo, so you grab your girl and a mean grind ensues. By now the tempo is flowing, so the high-hat leads and the jazz foundations are exposed–your head bounces to the song. This pretty much sums up the sound of El Royale.–Lukas Huffman
