In the Mix September 1, 1999 "What is your most prized purchase?"
Have you ever bought something so special it remains with you forever? Maybe it was your first lift ticket. Do you remember buying your first snowboard, and how much you loved it? Did you keep the stub from that New Kids On The Block concert? A purchase that at the time may seem insignificant can ultimately change your world.
I'll never forget a plane ride to Sri Lanka, when I met modern Aphrodite Tyra Banks. She was on her way to a photo shoot, and I was on my way to seek spiritual guidance. The plane ticket was a financial burden at the time, but turned into the investment of a lifetime. The boarding pass from that faithful day in June remains framed on a wall in my bedroom. As for Tyra and I, well, she had a restraining order filed against me, but we'll always have Sri Lanka.-Mike Cherico

"My most prized possessions would have to be my collections. I have some pretty valuable toys. Lots of old Star Wars stuff and some O.G. Godzilla stuff from the 1950s. I think the collections and my house are probably my prized purchases. Oh yeah, and my cell phone."

"My most prized possession is really important because it's part of me. See, I had this rotten tooth, the filling had fallen out and food would get stuck in it and stuff, so I had to get it fixed. They told me I had a choice between porcelain and gold for the cap. You know which one I picked. You see, I've got a plan for my tooth. If it ever falls out, or gets knocked out, since it's gold, I can sell it or put it on some link and wear it around my neck."

"I bought an original cell from the Japanamation movie Akira. This very rare test pencil drawing is one of the first [cells] created for the movie."

"The most recent thing I bought was a 1967 Mustang hard top. It's pretty much my favorite thing to drive right now. It's cool cause it's the same year my dad had when I was born. There's a picture of my mom holding me in the car. I'm working on restoring it to the same condition as my father's was in the picture. That kinda family history gives me a good feelin'."
