In a bold and perhaps foolhardy attempt to answer some of the questions you readers of the Gospel email me on a weekly basis, we've decided to launch a little advice column. Each month I'll pick 5 questions to answer. By no means is this the Gospel on snowboarding - they are but one answer in a multitude of possibilities. That said, it's time to dish.

Hyprgirl14 How do I get sponsored and what's the best way to get started?

Gospel Getting sponsored is tough business, Hypr. First, make sure it's what you want to do. Being a sponsored snowboarder doesn't necessarily guarantee rock-star status. But if you still want sponsorship, start small and don't give up. Talk to your local snowboard shop about sponsoring you with gear if you do well in a local contest. You have to perform well at these contests to get noticed, but it's the best way to break into the business.

Sprstr1127 I want to attend a women's snowboard camp. Also, which are the best cities to move to with snow?

Gospel There are many women's snowboard camps being offered around the country this season. Unlike in the past, most local mountains now host women's-only sessions. A bigger, more expense, but more extensive camp is the Wild Women's Snowboard Camp. Check it out at www.wildwomencamps.com or call (877) SHE-RIPS. As for the best cities with snow, Boulder, Park City, Tahoe, Telluride, Stratton all come to mind.

Zoohk Hi. I just have a quick question for you. I ride my skateboard with my body facing the right side and propel myself with my left foot. Should I approach the snowboard for the first time the same way?

Gospel Yes, try it the same way because it's the most natural for you. >From what you described, you're a regular footer.

Mishell127 Are windpants OK to ride in? What type of clothing should I get?

Gospel Clothing depends on many factors: what you can afford, where you live, and your ability level. If you live in a warmer climate, say Southern California, you should buy lighter-weight garments such as Cold As Ice. But for Rocky Mountain conditions, check out more hardcore lines such as Bombshell and Deep. Wind pants are OK if that's all you've got, but it's always a good idea to invest, particularly, in a durable, water-resistant pair of snowboard pants. They'll keep you warm and dry, which means more fun on the mountain.

KbluePhish I got your email from the Transworld beginners guide website. I'm going to be going boarding for the first time in a couple of days. I'm 14 and do not ski. If you have any pointers or tips, I would really appreciate it. Also, I was wondering if your mag has a web page because I can't find it in stores.

Gospel I'm stoked you're going riding! Good luck. Quick pointers are to stretch before you head out there‹particularly your back, neck, and legs. I hope you've signed up for professional instruction. It's worth the 20 bucks to get a real lesson from a professional instructor (not your boyfriend) the first time out on the mountain. Ask a bunch of questions‹the instructor will have tips on more than just riding, such as the right equipment you need. And before you go check out Snowboarding Online's multi-media instruction tips featuring video, audio, and everything you need to get started snowboarding.

As for our website, we're at www.wigmag.com. The mag can be found in several women's bookstore chains, music stores, Barnes and Nobles, and Hastings.
