LETTERS TO CLEO - Go!
(Revolution)
Release Date: 10/7/97
Review: Angel Bennett
(October 28, 1997)

After recouping from two solid years of touring, it's great to hear fresh healthy sounds from a band that could have easily broken-down form overworking. Instead of fatigue, however, their third release, GO!, shows that the Boston based foursome is coming out of the corner swinging. Kay Hanley's nubile voice is awash in enlivened exuberance and the song writing is equally invigorated. Perhaps the album's lively sound is owed to the induction of new drummer Tom Polce (former LTC drummer now plays for Veruca Salt). Maybe it's the delirious buzz of young love as Hanley and guitarist Michael Eisenstein recently tied the knot, or it could just be that the alterna-popsters have had a chance to breath fall's crisp, bright air. From the get go Hanley takes you to high gear with the optimistic punch of "I Got Time" and keeps you hopping with the single, "Anchor." For whatever reason, the band is in top form and anyone with the sense to buy this album will be the beneficiary of a fantastic pop-rock transfusion!
