POOP W/FLIES -

(July 23, 1998)

Poop w/files has nothing to do with snowboarding or snowboarders. It's a book filled with small, crudely drawn cartoons of flies circling different piles of feces.

One, titled, "Vegas Daydream" features flies playing a slot machine. The wheels have come up poop, poop, and poop, and the flies are swarming the machine because the jackpot is, of course, poop.

Another shows a Venetian gondolier piloting two flies on a romantic trip around the toilet bowl on a boat made out of poop.

Edited and designed by Rick Casteel, the book began as an office meeting doodle that got tacked to a wall. That single drawing, which looks suspiciously like the old "World Industry Shit Sold Here" sticker, evolved into a "Poop w/flies Drawing Contest." By the time Casteel took the drawings down off his wall over 150 drawings of Poop w/flies had emerged.

Casteel pulled a finely edited selection of those drawings together to make this book. While true coprologists may find this book tame, the average poop fan will find many a poopy laugh in these pages. I give it four poopy stars, with flies.
