(October 28, 1998)
Sponsors:
Riders: Mike Basich, Ali Goulet, Bryan Iguchi, Patrik Karlson (winner of the "hardest stack" award), Jay Nelson, Jakob Soderquist, Kurt Wastell, and others.
Comments: Justin Hostynek’s latest release has everything from trick flips to powder poaching in spots like Tahoe, British Columbia, Mammoth, Utah, and Oregon.
This film stands out from other releases this season by offering one of the only female features. Tina Basich’s smooth style shines in deep Utah pow, along with some huge drops, leading up to her performance at the 1998 Winter X-Games at Crested Butte.
Other contest highlights include the two European indoor extravaganzas—Innsbruck and Gothenberg—along with the Summer X-Games jump-off in San Diego.
Among the many outstanding performances, Axel Pauporté kicks off his segment with a little magic; the perfect intro to his on-snow sorcery is through a couple sketchy slough sections. Marc Frank Montoya closes the film with some unreal backcountry cliff drops and wide-open powder poaching.
Don’t miss the credits—you’ll be surprised what a few snowboard fools can fish up.
