BURTON GOES TO NAGANO
Review: Lee Crane
(February 24, 1998)
Burton marekting guy Dave Schriber get's the entire snowboard Olympics
down on atoms on Burton's website. While reading two columns of HTML's
text can get pretty tiring (how many times do you really want to scroll a
page) it's well worth the effort. You will laugh out loud.
Dave journal begins on his first day in Nagano: "It's kind of like a trip
back in time, to the days when snowboarding was allowed at very few
resorts, and nobody went off the trails, much less ducked ropes to ride
the woods," he says. "As you might guess, that's pretty much what we've
been doing."
From there it's a random spattering of trips to McDonalds, KFC, numerous
references to a certain "Japanese skiwear maker," (a.k.a. Pheonix) and
great overviews of the events. It also includes insightful
behind-the-scenes dealings with the Burton Team, who, if you didn't
notice included quite a few of the people competing in the Olympics.
Dave done good.
