Snowbird Offers Spring Snowboard Camps

February 5, 2001

Snowbird, Utah - Grab your skis or board, it's camp season at Snowbird. Whether you're a snowboarder looking to get some vert in the halfpipe or a skier looking to get the most out of your mountain, Snowbird has a camp for you.

Three- and four-day camps include at least six hours of on-hill coaching, video analysis, product demos, lectures, a welcome reception and a closing dinner. Lodging is not included.

"This is a unique opportunity for skiers and snowboarders alike to make the most of Snowbird's varied terrain," said Snowbird Mountain School Supervisor Lane Clegg.

Snowboard Halfpipe Camp Feb. 16-19, April 12-15
A low-stress opportunity for the intermediate to advanced snowboarder to get in the pipe, Snowbird's Halfpipe Camps are taught by instructors who haven't forgotten how intimidating a 10-foot vertical wall can be. By the end of this three-day camp, riders will have a strong foundation from which they can progress to big air and tricks.

Snowboard Steeps Camp Feb. 15-19, April 11-15
With hundreds of acres of steep terrain, Snowbird is the perfect venue for the Snowboard Steeps Camp. Professional riders and coaches lead this group into Snowbird's chutes and steeps with an emphasis on safety and technique. Long before sliding into a 45-degree chute, students in the Snowboard Steeps Camp will learn the essentials to the safe navigation of white-knuckle terrain. This includes harness and rope usage, avalanche transceiver use and other such key aspects of surviving and enjoying the steepest terrain. This camp is open to intermediate through expert riders.

Ski Steeps Camp Feb. 14-18, April 18-22
Similar to the Snowboard Steeps Camp except tailored to the specifics of skiing steep terrain. The Ski Steeps Camps are open to advanced intermediates through experts.

Women's Ski and Snowboard Camps March 4-8 (Ski), March 14-17 (Board)
For women and by women, these three- and four-day camps include on-hill training, video analysis, breakfast, ski fitness tips, equipment demos and social events. Ski Camps (four days) are best for intermediate through expert skiers; Snowboard Camps (three days) are for all levels.

Call the Snowbird Mountain School at (801) 933-2170 for more information, including pricing and times.

Located 29 miles from Salt Lake City International Airport in the heart of the Wasatch Mountains, Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort is one of the most accessible all-season resorts in the world. Ranked by SKIING Magazine as one of the top-10 North American ski resorts, Snowbird also offers a nationally recognized mountain resort spa and award-winning conference facilities and restaurants.
