Modart/BBC Breast Mold Auction
By Press Release

April 3, 2001

Modart/BBC Breast Mold Auction: Bid on a Breast Get a Real Piece of the Action

When the Boarding for Breast Cancer Foundation and Modart team of action sports-oriented artists showcased its collection of customized breast molds at openings in both New York City and San Francisco, the immediate attention simply reinforced a well-known fact: breasts are beautiful, and we value them in every shape, size, and form (and color, and design, and artistic interpretation*).

Following such interest, its clear that the next step in directing the project toward actual cancer awareness and research is the selling of the pieces, with donation of all proceeds to the Boarding For Breast Cancer (BBC) Foundation a non-profit, youth-focused awareness, and fundraising foundation. The Foundations mission is to spread breast cancer awareness among todays youth, and to raise funds for research and educational programs through events, sports, music, and art.

In this spirit, we are pleased to announce an open, online auction that begins April 1st and ends April 10th running daily until 9 p.m. PST. This auction, to take place at www.modart.com, will include the breast molds of both volunteers and professional athletes like Shannon Dunn, Tina Basich, Megan Pischke, Tara Dakides, Barrett Christy, and Tricia Byrnes. Each breast mold has been individualized even further by one of 81 artists, whose work has shaped the powerful visual environment that has always colored the action sports scene. Ed Templeton, Andy Jenkins, Randy Gaetano, Tina Basich, Futura, Stash, and Lance Mountain are just a few of the artists who lent their time and abilities for the good of the cause. Visit www.modart.com to view images of each piece, read commentary from the artists, and most importantly, place a bid!

So what'll it be: An intensely post-modernistic Acup thats been enhanced with the complexities of multi-media, or a more traditional double-C that beckons you with the simplicity of applied acrylic?

Whatever your call, remember to join us at the 6th Annual Boarding for Breast Cancer Snowboard + Music Festival on April 14, 2001, at Sierra-At-Tahoe, California. Remaining breast molds, plus new creations will be available for sale at BBCs main event. In addition, the Foundation s annual snowboard + music festival features snowboard exhibitions by the worlds top professional riders, breast cancer awareness and educational exhibits, and music performances by Linkin Park, Stereomud, Static-X, Grand Theft Audio, Kotton Mouth Kings, and DJ Z-Trip. The festival also includes a major product raffle and benefit sale with over $50,000 of snowboards and accessories, a chance to ride with the pros, and free snowboard product demos.

All proceeds from BBCs one-day blow out festival go toward breast cancer research and educational programs. Past beneficiaries have included The Breast Cancer Fund, The Susan G. Komen Foundation, The Nina Hyde Center For Breast Cancer Research, and a variety of regional breast cancer support organizations.
