Mountain High Breaks SoCal Skier Visits Record

By Press Release

April 24, 2001

Wrightwood, CA April 20, 2001 Mountain High, Southern Californias closest winter resort, is now Southern Californias most popular winter resort. This week it climbed above 570,000 skiers visits breaking not only its personal best but the regions best of 560,000.

Mountain High is now the #1 resort in Southern California in terms of skier visits and #3 in the state behind Mammoth and Heavenly. This season, not even Telluride, Jackson Hole or Sun Valley will match Mountain Highs numbers and out of 520 resorts in the country, Mountain High will rank in the top 15.

In my wildest dreams, I never anticipated achieving these visits after only four years under new management, pronounced Karl Kapuscinski, General Manager. Were incredibly excited to see Southern Californias winter market respond so positively to our changes.

Since their new ownership in 1997, attendance levels have risen 215% from 180,000 to 570,000 making Mountain High the fastest growing resort in the country.

Business levels remain strong and with the National Weather Service calling for even more snow this weekend, Mountain High expects to see its numbers climb even closer to an unheard of 600,000.

We have close to three feet of snow on the major trails, states JR Reinhardt, Mountain Operations Manger. And with more snow on the way, we expect to be open until at least May 6th.
