Check Out: Jakob Wilhelmson

By Dave Sypniewski

October 11, 2000

Jakob Wilhelmson
Born: August 26, 1981
Lives: In the town I was born inTanndalen, Sweden
Sponsors: Lib Tech Snowboards, Quiksilver clothes and eyewear, Northwave

Jakob and I first met a few years ago, when he was just a wee little lad, all quiet and shy. We were riding around together at Mt. Baker with Kia and Hemi (sorry, I forgot their last names). I thought they were all a bunch of rippers. Anyway, were eating lunch in the White Salmon Lodge (it was around the time of the Banked Slalom and it was Jakobs first time thereI think he might of won his age group, or at least got second), and Terje walks by. Trying to be the hella cool dude I am, I introduce Jakob to him. (Thats right, I know Terje.) So Terje looks all Scanner at Jakob and they start talking funny, like they had marbles in their mouths. Terje then turns to me and explains Jakob was at the famous Swedish road-gap with him and Jamie Lynn. (See TransWorld cover November 94.) That might have been a lame story, but the point Im trying to make is that Jakobs been around. Hes learned how to ride from the best ever, and hell probably become one of them.David Sypniewski

Marku Koski: What would you do if you won a million dollars?

First Id buy a real nice car, and then Id get a big removable houselike in the cartoons, so I wouldnt need to stay in the same place all the time!

What other sports do you like?

I like all kinds of sports. I golf, skateboard, fish, bike, and just whatever there is to do.

Which famous person would you like to meet the most?

Im not so into fame, but Id like to meet people who make me laugh and have a good time.

Whats your favorite food?

My taste changes from day to day.

Describe yourself in three words?

Tall, skinny, and friendly?

What would you fight for or defend?

My family, girlfriend, and friends. Id rather stay away from fights; Im not the right build!

What do you think was the best invention from the past century?

Airplanesso kids like me can experience the world.
