Strap In, Get Up!

The first thing you have to learn is how to strap on your board.
Listen to the tip.

Put the board down, and start with your front foot first.

Chris Zuchlag
  • Put your front foot in while standing up. If your board has step-in bindings, step in toe first then down until it clicks. For strap in bindings, bend over and do your strap up.

  • Next, put on your safety leash. This prevents the board from running away if you fall down and are not strapped up. The leash goes on your front leg.

  • Always sit down to put your back foot in. Make sure there is no snow in the binding or on the bottom of your boot, then step in or do your strap up.

  • Before standing, make sure the board is across the hill.

Standing Up:
When standing, always put the same amount of weight on both feet. Here are three ways to get up on your board.

Thrust!

Pull Up!

Roll Over!

  • Lean back, then thrust yourself up.

  • Pull up by the toe edge of your board.

  • Roll over to your knees, then stand up.

Now - if you can just learn to stay up!
