PR: LXD, Inc. & ESPN Announce Dates/Regions For 1997-1998 Snowboard Championship Tour

March 13, 1997 - Malibu, CA: LXD, inc., partners with ESPN on the ESPN Freeride Snowboard Championship Tour announced the dates and regions of their 1997-98 season.

Event 1: Dec. 11-14, 1997: Northwest

Event 2: Jan. 8-11, 1998: Northern California/Lake Tahoe

Event 3: Feb. 12-15: Colorado

Event 4: March 12-15: Northeast (Note: will include the North American BoarderX Championships)

Each stop on the Freeride Tour features four disciplines of competition: Slopestyle, Big Air, BoarderX and the trademark Freeride Event.

The tour will result in a total of 8 one-hour programs, and one :30 minute program, all to air on ESPN1 in West Coast Prime Time, with additional airings to offer an unprecedented total 25.5 hours of ESPN1 snowboard programming, with numerous additional airings on espn2. There may also be a one-hour program on ABC Wide World of Sports.

LXD and ESPN are also sponsors of the United States Amateur Snowboarding Association, as part of the Freeride Championship Tour, and the Freeride Championships will be sanctioned by the ISF.

Last year, in the first season for the Freeride Championships, the presenting sponsor was Airwalk, with Sprite, 1-800-Collect and Mint-a-Burst Gum as associate sponsors. Sponsors for the 1997-1998 Freeride Championships and the USASA to be announced shortly.
