Morrow Signs New Deal With Morrow Japan

By Press Release

August 2, 2000

Shige Ebata of Morrow Japan said, "Of course we are delighted by this announcement. We have been the exclusive Japanese distributor since Rob Morrow and his family began making snowboards more than ten years ago, and we are thrilled with the quality and technology the reorganized company is able to offer".

Morrow Japan is a subsidiary of Hasco, which distributes other top snow, surf and skate lines in Japan. They have established Morrow as a major brand in Japan and have continued to make Morrow a strong supplier there.

"We have a great relationship with Morrow Japan that we inherited when the brand was purchased over a year ago," said Greg Hughes, Morrows Sales and Brand Manager. "We are very pleased with the way the Morrow brand is presented in Japan. Its our hope that this new agreement will show the stores in Japan that we have a long-term commitment to the brand and Morrow Japan."

Since K2 purchased Morrow, it has largely continued relationships with most of its international distributors. This serves to reinforce the idea that Morrow Snowboards will remain to be a technical brand sold in specialty stores.

In Other Morrow News Although sales for Morrow remained flat in the U.S. for 00/01, which was expected due to poor weather, poor shipping, and cautious buyers, Morrow has added what amounts to a ten-percent increase in stores that carry the brand.

"After all weve been through over the last year, its great to see that were getting an increase in store fronts," said Hughes. "Many of these shops have carried the line in the past and like what they see. This tells me that were on the right track. We also saw a moderate increase in sales for Europe. I think a lot of that has to do with Europe being so far away from all of the rumor mill and political stuff weve had to put up with here in the states. The stores over there were able to see the boards and the brand for what it is and make a decision based on that."
