Nidecker Moves, Ships Catalogs

By John Stouffer

August 11, 2000

In an effort to consolidate its resources, Nidecker Snowboards has moved out of its old waterfront location in Burlington, Vermont to new offices in Williston, just a few minutes away. The move puts the office in the same complex as the companys warehouse, enabling the staff to monitor incoming and outgoing product shipments.

One of the most recent shipments the company just received included its new high-end Carbon 860 bindings and consumer catalog called Nidecker News. The twelve-page newspaper-style catalog features articles on the factory and company, in addition to product-line information. According to Jerome Boulay, head of the U.S. office, the company plans on mailing out about 9,000 copies of the catalog directly to consumers, along with a list of dealers in their area. The company will also ship packs of 100 to each of its dealers to distribute from their shops.

In other Nidecker news, the company is holding its summer sales meeting this weekend at Mt. Hood, where theyll spend a couple of days riding at Timberline, as well as hanging at the Nidecker demo center and preparing for the sales season. New additions to the rep force who will be in attendance for the first time include Sue Tremblay who takes over the Oregon and Washington territory, and Chris Landswerk who is in charge of repping Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois.

Boulay says that although the company is still small, its already doubled the number of preseason orders it got last year. Weve got a lot of new shops--better shops, he says, including SFO, Daves, Cutting Edge, Cool Runnings, Pride, and Polar Revolutions. He says that instead of spreading the brand out further, now the company has to take care of the shops it has with great customer service and rep support. Boulay wants to position Nidecker like Never Summer and 686 Enterprises, two core brands he believes have solidified their places in core shops across the country.

Nideckers new address is: 589 Avenue D, Suite 20, Williston, Vermont 05495, phone: (802) 860-1788.
