Burton Snowboards' Method Centers Go Global

By Press Release

August 14, 2001

Burton Snowboards, responding to the overwhelming success last year of their new Learn To Ride Method Center program, has expanded the initiative to nearly 35 resorts around North America, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and Japan for the 2002 Winter Season.

Burton Method Centers, featuring Learn to Ride (LTR) product from Burton, revolutionize the snowboard learning experience with a combined methodology of innovative learning equipment and cutting edge instruction. The dynamic program, a partnership between Burton Snowboards and pioneering resorts, helps newcomers of all ages link turns on their very first day on the slopes while significantly reducing their number of falls. Simply put, LTR is all about learning the feel of snowboarding, while using the best beginner snowboard equipment available.

We were so excited with the great feedback of our new Method Centers last year that it seemed only natural for Burton to expand the program in North America and around the globe this year, said Jeff Boliba, Manager of Burtons Learn to Ride program. Through our efforts, we are teaching snowboarding to newcomers worldwide and making it a fun, safe and positive learning experience.

Youth can get in on the fun too with Burtons new Kids Method Centers dedicated to providing a snowboarding experience for children 12 and under. The kids get trampoline training, balance boards, fingerboard parks and pipes all worked into the snowboard lesson to enhance the learning experience. What more could a kid ask for?

Burtons Method Center program originated last year with 12 Method Centers established around North America. The program quickly became the pinnacle for snowboard instruction, offering learner-specific Burton LTR product, lower student to teacher ratios in lessons, appropriate learning terrain and instructors certified by the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI).

As the 2002 Winter Olympics approach, and snowboarding continues to be one of the fastest growing sports (according to the National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA)), Burtons Method Centers will serve as a portal into the world of snowboarding. From there it is all downhill, but in the best possible way.
