Mammoth, Vail, Ski NH Execs Win Sammy Awards

Three ski area executives, one association director, and the founder of a ski company won Sammy Future Leadership awards from Ski Area Management magazine last night in New Orleans, Louisana. The event was part of the opening-night ceremonies taking place around the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) National Convention and Trade Show.

The SAMMY Future Leadership Awards honor individuals whose strong, innovative leadership demonstrated at mid-career shows exciting promise for even more accomplishments and leadership in the future.

�Usually people in this industry only get things like lifetime achievement awards when they�re old or are dead,� said one SAM representative. �We want to honor people while they�re still doing things.�

The five included Rob Perlman, the senior director of marketing for Mammoth Mountain, California, who�s overseen the resort selling more than 26,000 Value Passes last year, and spearheaded many successful marketing campaigns.

Alice Pearce, the executive director of Ski New Hampshire, took one for her putting New Hampshire at the forefront of winter destinations for national and international visitors.

Denzel Rowland, the mountain director of Snow Basin Ski Area, Utah, was picked for his supervising the transformation of the resort in preparation for the Olympics.

Jason Levinthal was honored for founding Line Skis and pioneering the skiboard movement.

William Jensen, Senior VP/COO of Vail Ski Resort has had a repected career in the resort industry and won a Special SAMMY Recognition award.
