Steel-capped Boards
Aggression Snowboards
By Billy Miller

What is your name and title?

Jeremy Bouley, marketing coordinator.

What is the size of your factory?

It’s 55,000 square feet.

How many employees do you have?

We employ 150 people, company-wide.

How many years have you been manufacturing?

We’ve been manufacturing our own boards for ten years now. In April of ’95 we moved from Boulder to Denver to a new, upgraded facility.

How did you get started? What kind of start-up capital did you have?

Aggression was first started under Boulder Boards with a private investor. It was acquired by Volant in 1994. Because of these circumstances, I can’t give you an exact number for the original start-up capital.

What is your factory’s capacity?

Currently we’re operating ten-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, year ’round.

How many presses do you have?

Our current tooling and press capacity allows us to make eight boards simultaneously.

What’s your average cost per board?

Average cost is model-specific due to the different technology used.

What board lines are produced at your factory?

Aggression is not producing other brands in our factory for the ’96/’97 season.

What types of construction techniques do you use?

We have three types of constructions: traditional sandwich, full-360 degree closeout cap, and proprietary steel-cap technology.

What, if any, construction changes have you made for this season?

Both our cap and steel cap technology is relatively new for the ’97/98 season. They were both released December 1 as a mid-season entry with a limited production to six sizes. So, for the upcoming season, Aggression has changed construction throughout the line and will introduce new designs and sizes for a more diverse and performance-based product line.

How is your factory different from others?

It’s a state-of-the-art factory, with new machinery, and technologies. Both skis and snowboards are produced in the same factory but with separate workers for both sides. The resource- and technology-sharing environment of both skis and snowboards is a true benefit of our company. Aggression’s in-house engineering lab maintains product quality and product development 365 days a year. Let’s not forget, made in Colorado.

With an overabundance of snowboards in the world, how does your company keep up?

Introducing the steel cap snowboard puts us in a unique position since it’s a patented process and performance that no one else can duplicate. Our concentration on developing and maintaining the quality and performance of snowboards for snowboarders will continue to set us apart.
