The world will find out on January 14 when Capital Recovery Group auctions off the Marker snowboard factory. The move is part of Markerıs divestment from the snowboard industry and its attempt to get the company back into better financial condition. "All assets will be sold," says Bill Firestone, president of the Capital Recovery Group. These assets include everything from snowboard presses to fiberglass to desks and chairspretty much everything that was in the multi-million-dollar factory. In fact, according to Firestone, everything is still there and will be sold during the day. "The plant is completely intact. If someone wants to buy a complete snowboard factory, theyıll have a chance," he says. More than likely, things will go piecemeal through the different auction lots. Firestone says just about every snowboard factory in the world has been contacted to try to get rid of the specific equipment, and local auctioneers will also be there going after the more mundane office equipment. Marker definitely hired a professional group to conduct the auction. Capital performs 30 to 50 auctions like this a year and has handled the divestments of plants for such companies as Coca-Cola and Black and Decker.
