The Billabong All Girl Skate Jam kicks off its third year May 9, 1999 this year with a three stop tour beginning in Providence, Rhode Island. Founded by photographer Patty Segovia, the contest offers girls of all ages and abilities a chance to compete against one another in vert, mini-ramp and street skating.

Last year's event brought in close to 100 contestants to Escondido in spite of the blazing hot sun and temperatures upward of 100 degrees. In the last two years the AGSJ has created one of the first international competition to bring girls from the east and west coasts together to skate in the 90s.

With sponsors like Billabong, Vans, MXG and many more, the event has now been expanded to three contests over the spring and summer. The opener is in Providence, RI on May 9th, then the contest moves onto the Vans Skatepark in Orange, CA September 12 and ends up at Oahu, HI during the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing in November.
