Snowboarders Gear Up For Timberline Classic

MT HOOD, OREGON (February 10, 1999) - Extra... Extra.... read all about it
the Timberline Classic is back! Top Snowboarders of all ages get ready to
compete in this years revived Timberline Classic Feb 13-14. Pro and Am
Snowboarders battle it out for US National competition spots and World
Points.
Timberline Lodge host the last Oregon stop in the PAC WEST Snowboard Tour.
With 198 inch base and more powder on the way this promises to be a
non-stop, fun filled afternoon. Each event weekend features a Half-Pipe
Competition on Saturday, followed by the Boarder Derby on Sunday. The
excitement starts at Saturdays halfpipe event, a u shaped depression in the
snow that riders do airs and acrobatics soaring above the crowd, the event
will start at 10:00am to 1:30pm on the Paint Brush Trail off Blossom lift.
Sundays Boarder Derby, one of the most exciting events on snow, involves
several riders racing simultaneously through banked turns, jumps and other
obstacles. As one of the newest and hottest contact sports going, itís like
combining football, rugby and motocross into one action-packed race where
the first rider to the finish line is the winner!
