PR: Airwalk Sno-Core Tour Rocks the
Nation
(February 18, 1997)
ALTOONA, Penn.--Feb. 10, 1997--Airwalk launches the SNO-CORE TOUR Feb. 14
as music and fashion industry observers anticipate the exciting combination
of on-mountain board sports and evening concerts from groups such as Face
to Face, The Pharcyde, and Voodoo Glow Skulls.
The tour is the first to combine the sport of snowboarding with concert locales
at, or within, a short distance of the mountains.
"We don't want the fans to feel that they're simply spectators," said Greg
Woodman, Airwalk vice president of marketing and sales. "Rather, we'd like
to see them be a part of the action."
The music component of the tour will bring together elements of punk, ska
and hip-hop. All of the evening concerts will feature a thematic mountainesque
stage setting that complements the daytime activity where Airwalk riders
will demo.
Five of the stops on the national tour will host amateur snowboard events,
with the winner being flown to Southern California for participation in the
finals at Board AID 4 music and mountain festival at Bear Mountain, March
14-15. That event is a major annual fund-raiser in support of LIFEbeat(tm),
the music industry's effort to provide funds to youth AIDS education programs.
