(Press Release, June 23, 1998)—Ride Sports (Nasdaq: RIDE), a leading
manufacturer and marketer of snowboard equipment and accessories,
wakeboards and related products announced its new executive organization
naming Scott Mavis vice president of marketing, Mark Brasier vice president of
sales, Greg Cook vice president of operations, and G. Scott Stewart vice
president of finance and chief financial officer.
"We have organized Ride under a more functional organization structure that will
provide better service for our U.S. retailers and international customers, improve
all aspects of our corporate communication, and ultimately maximize profits for
our shareholders through improved internal efficiencies," says Robert
Marcovitch, president and chief executive officer.
Scott Mavis was appointed vice president of marketing. Mavis has been with
Ride since shortly after its inception in 1992 and was most recently responsible
for all of the company's European business. In this capacity, Mavis established
direct sales for Ride's brands in France and the U.K. and significantly increased
the corporation's market share in Europe. During his nearly six-year tenure with
Ride, Mavis was charged with a multitude of responsibilities in both domestic
and international marketing, sales, and finance and was instrumental in the
company's early successes.
Mark Brasier was appointed vice president of worldwide sales. Brasier has been
with the company since shortly after its inception in 1992 when he joined as a
territory sales representative. With more than ten years of experience in the
snowboard industry Brasier was most recently responsible for Ride's Liquid
division where he successfully executed the relaunch of the company's Liquid
brand of snowboards, boots, and bindings worldwide.
Greg Cook was appointed vice president of operations and chief operating officer
for all of Ride Sports, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company.
He has been with Ride since 1996-most recently as president of the company's
Canadian subsidiary. Prior to Ride, Cook was the president of Head/ Tyrolia
Sports Canada, Inc. and served as the president of the National Snow Industries
Association in Canada, an organization in which he is still active. He is
presently on the board for the Sports Industry Credit Association and is a
fifteen-year veteran of the winter sports business.
G. Scott Stewart continues as the company's vice president of finance and chief
financial officer. Stewart has been with Ride for more than three years as its
chief financial officer. Prior to Ride, Stewart was a senior manager with Ernst
and Young in Seattle.
