Being lumped in with all the other companies at the ASR trade show, a new
company and their message can get lost. But inviting a few key people to your own exclusive party, that's the way to get noticed.
Approximately 600 people packed into Papa Jack's on Fourth Street in the
Gaslamp district of downtown San Diego on September 10 to drink and dance to the sounds of Blink 182, Black Eyed Peas, Blood of Abraham, Fantastic Planet, and DJ Greyboy. Their hosts included the new apparel company Hurley, the new watch company Nixon, and the newly launched Web site Snowboarding Online. Other hosts of the bash included Smith, The Shop, Etnies, TransWorld SKATEboarding, and Interscope Records.
Of those 600, a handful of industry insiders held VIP passes which allowed
them entry into the quieter restaurant/bar area of Papa Jack's.
They were treated to free food and drinks from 8:00 p.m. to approximately 10:00 p.m. After that it was a free-for-all at the bars.
According to Claire Desgouttes, online sales manager for Snowboarding
Online, "ASR's timing and industry attendance made it a perfect scene for us to promote the launch of our new site, Snowboarding Online. We were glad to help sponsor such a successful event. For those of you that missed the festivities, we will see you in Vegas!"
