(Press Release, August 12, 1998) Original Sin reports preseason sales up 70 percent. These figures include boards, boots, and bindings sales at both the retail and rental level.

At a time when few manufactures arwelcome datacompe reporting increases, Original Sin credits the growth to the success of the S.I.S. step-in binding system and the company's new sales structure.

"The binding system is a great opportunity at both retail and rental," states Dan Sullivan, Original Sin sales manager. "We had strong sell-in with our step- in bindings at the retail level. For rental, the N.T.I. (No Tool Interface) saves the shop employees and the rental customer time. It eliminates the hassle of adjusting bindings' straps and stances, and leaves more time on the hill."

Leading the rental buy is Booth Creek Holdings, who purchased the S.I.S. system for its rental shops at Northstar-at-Tahoe, Sierra-at-Tahoe, andBear Mountain in California, Cranmore and Loon Mountain in New Hampshire, Grand Targhee in Wyoming, and the four Summit at Snoqualmie areas in Washington.

Original Sin also credits the increase to its new sales structure, in which Skis Dynastar reps sell all five of the company's products. Under the new structure sales reps are accountable for snowboard sales and enables Skis Dynastar dealers to work with one salesperson for all products.

"The new structure has enabled us to have representation in areas we hadn't previously," states Sullivan. "We're picking up accounts in areas like Texas and New Mexico, where our distribution had been weak."
