The SOL Groove Vol. 1 Num.
18
(July 20, 1997)
We're doing this issue of the Groove from Mt. Hood, Oregon. Heart of the
summer world snowboard community in the Northern Hemisphere. We'll have lots
of goodies from Hood a little later, but we thought we'd just send you this
to remind you to check out some of the new stuff that's up on the site. See
ya.
EVER WONDER
Have you ever wondered who puts this whole mess that we call Snowboarding
Online together? Sometimes we wonder ourselves and just as a little reminder
we go to the INFO
area of SOL. This lovely little cyber spot explains the theory behind
the SOL icons, offers profiles on most of our contributors, and lets you
send us email telling us how much you like what we do. Take a second to go
there sometime and find out about the inner-workings of this magnanimous
site.
CAMP OF CHAMPIONS
SOL associate editor Shanti Sosienski took
a trip to
Whistler recently for a week and was impressed with the talent, the beauty
of the area, and how much food a hundred-pound Japanese girl can carry while
snowboarding. Read all about it.
SWITCH-NORTHWAVE STEP-IN
In the never-ending quest to dominate the step-in market,
Switch
Auto Lock Step-in System has procured another alliance with a major boot
supplier in the snowboarding world. Announced just a few days ago, check
out what Northwave will have to offer in the next season.
GETTING AROUND
Have you seen the newest in step-ins, the
Berger
Binding? We caught a glimpse of it at Vegetate at Mt. Hood earlier this
spring, now you too can get check out the newest in step-in technology.
WHO AM I?
Get in on the action now and play the latest installment of
WHO AM I? and
get your name posted on the site. Our congratulations go out to last weeks
winner Tim Zimmerman of Dubois, PA. He was the first to identify that it
was indeed Jeff Brushie who spins (as in turntables and snowboarding), lives
west of the Mississipi, is stoked with his new sponsor, and would rather
drive a diesel 4x4 van.
SPRAY HERE
We want to know what you really think! And the
SOL
| Message Boards is the perfect place for you to share your bits of
knowledge, wisdom, slander, and libel. The best part about it is that we
have nothing to do with it. Itis all you baby, so go for it. It's especially
great for letting the world know what a completely brain-dead idiot you are.
So don't be frightened. Kick it down. The worst that can happen is the entire
snowboard world will laugh their asses off at you.
WIN STICKERS BY CHATTING
We've invented a little game called ON THE SPOT. Twice a week someone from
SOL will make a surprise visit to the SOL room between 5 and 8 p.m. Pacific
Standard Time. The SOL representative will ask a trivia question and the
first person to email the answer and their address to
[email protected] will win stickers.
Yeah, we're big spenders.
It's an easy game, but you can only win by being in the American Online SOL
TalkBox every night from 5-8 pm. See you there.
Sunday
Come join host Tarny 34 from 5-7 for a little summer chatting about everything
else there is to do in the summer when snowboarding is virtually impossible.
Monday
Icis101 from New York state hosts the Talkbox on Monday night from 5-7 Pacific
Standard Time. This is often pro night, especially in the fall, so keep and
eye out for announcements about special guests.
Tuesday
Come chat with XxsungrlxX from 5-7 PST in the TalkBox every Tuesday night.
Wednesday (Chic Chat)
Eeyore8423 from Maryland will be your friendly TalkBox co-host on Thursdays
from 5-7 Pacific Standard Time along with Fresh And Tasty, the worldis first
all womenis snowboard mag.
Thursday
Got Punk is the host every Thursday night from 5-7. Come hang with him and
he'll catch you up on what is happening in snowboarding and what will be
coming up in SOL.
Friday
Rip it up with Rippey43, a proud New Yorker who likes to ride in Vermont
with his homesicles.
Saturday
Come chat with Snohigh420 on Saturday night from 7-9 Pacific Standard Time.
The End.
If, in some bout of insanity, you decide you don't want to receive the SOL
Groove in your mailbox point your browser to this URL:

The Groove 18 was brought to you by the wonderful people at Salomon Snowboards
who provided accomodations for the the cast and crew of SOL | Snowboarding
Online while at Mt. Hood.
