The SOL Groove Vol. 1 Num. 21
(August 14, 1997)

On this week's episode of the SOL | Groove you'll see what happens when a multi-million dollar company swallows a popular cult snowboard company; a snow industry organization sues a snow sport organizer; and Jeff Galbraith spends a little too much time along in Idaho. You'll also see the results of mixing dirt and snowboarders and piston heads (not necessarily in that order).

DIRTY SNOWBOARDERS
The third annual Morrow Motocross offered up another year of excellent competition, and spectacular crashes. Shanti Sosienski was there to report on just how much fun snowboarders have when you put them on loud machines and send them round and round on a dirt track.

SCREWED AGAIN
Just when snowboarders thought it would be safe to begin trusting The US Ski and Snowboard Association they drop another bomb. Are we surprised? Lee Crane goes into investigate this one, getting to the bottom of what's happening with the potential US Snowboard team and why the SIA is suing US Skiing.

THE DARK SIDE OF IDAHO
If you haven't been there yet, you may or may not be missing something depending on how deeply you can relate to random redneck musicians and the movie "Point Break." Tune out, turn on, drop in to Jeff Galbraith's latest installment of "Words To The Man." No, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with snowboarding.

MERVIN GOES SURFING WITH 4.3 MILLION
Mervin was recently purchased by Quiksilver. Yeah, we didn't believe it at first either. Maybe it's a late April Fool's joke. Well, either way, here's the scoop straight from the horse's mouth. And in case you still don't believe it, check out the press release they sent to all us magazine folk.

SPRAY HERE
What a year this has been for the snowboarding industry. Ride bought Device, Neptune bought Silence, no one has saved Twist yet. What are your thoughts on the whole snowboarding industry in chaos. Spray here about your theory of chaos as we head into the coldest part of the snowboarding ice age.

HELMET TIME
Helmets can save your life, especially on a hard day. Do you own one? What do you think about them? Have you ever worn one? Last year a Canadian pro snowboarder caught an edge and died from hitting his head. It could've happened to anyone. Point your browser here and read on.

GUESS WHO
If you haven't played our weekly WHO AM I? game yet you should give it a shot. Last week Macare Kelly from Traverse City, MI won a Nitro cap. This week it could be you. Go there, guess away, win! A simple task with results.

COMING UP
Keep an eye out in the next few weeks for all the information you need to buy a board that's right for you, plus an all new Girl's Gospel, coverage from Mt. Hood Timberline summer camps, adventure stories from snowboarders in Chile, and much more.

If in some bout of insanity (or sanity) you decide you no longer want to receive the fabulous weekly update from the SOL | Groove in your mailbox point your browser to this URL: http://www.snowboarding-online.com/register/unsub.cfm

The end of Groove 21 has been reached.

This issue of the SOL | Groove was brought to you by all of SOL's wonderful snowboard industry sponsors.
