BLUNT - Number 19

(December 29, 1997)

Just when you think it's not safe to open an issue of Blunt Snowboard Magazine they go and take out all the nudity and get back to snowboard basics. Well, snowboard basics, and bong building, and hugging, and weed buying, and porn reviewing, and singing dwarves.

January is apparently when the staff at Blunt clean up and walk straight for a least a month. This issue features a diary from Norway, an Alaska story by Jeff Pettit (in which he claims to have kissed Andy Hetzel on the lips), and video reviews. There's a wonderful interview in which the effervescent, eager-to-please Bjorn Leines perfects the three word quiz answer. Some of his best include: I don't know, That'd be nice, Forget those things, and I don't know.

Travis Yamada and indie rawk gawd Mike Watt are interviewed as well. Questions are asked and answers are given. In fact, I learned so much about Travis Yamada that I'm thinking about putting him on the Crane family Christmas list. I'll even include a form letter explaining what the rest of the family is up to. That would be fun. But I'm getting side tracked.

There might have been some funny stuff in this issue, but I was in a bad mood when I was reading it so it slipped right by me undetected.

I guess I'll just have to wait until next month when their really funny issue on Washed Up Snowboarders comes out. Stay tuned.
