Winter Golf Open at Loon

By Press Release

January 12, 2000

FIRST ANNUAL CASA WINTER SNOW GOLF OPEN AT LOON MOUNTAIN, FEBRUARY 12, 2000

Lincoln, NH, Jan. 10, 2000: Up in the White Mountains a little snow, cold temperatures, or the fact that it's the middle of winter don't get in the way of a good round of golf. On Saturday, February 12, Loon Mountain will host the first annual CASA Winter Snow Golf Open. Charlie Sherman from WMUR TV will serve as honorary host.

Foursomes will play nine holes of winter snow golf on a special course designed by Jacque Frost. Participants must ski, snowboard, or snowshoe from hole to hole (no golf carts allowed). Using official "White Mountain Rules" players will vie for the best score as they make their way down the Blue Ox trail. The usual (and not so usual) hazards will make for a challenging and fun round with prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive, worst score, best golf outfit and more.

Registration for the event is $300 per foursome or $75 per person and includes lift ticket, goody bag and pre-event "19th Hole Party". At the 19th Party, Friday evening, February 11, participants will be able to bid for spots on WMUR's Charlie Sherman's team.

"We think we can appeal to a wide audience, raise more money for CASA, and really have a lot of fun with this snow golf tournament," said Dave Anderson, director of marketing at Loon Mountain.

At the end of the day an awards and apres-ski party will be held in Governor's Lodge. Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the day and prizes include golf vacation for two at Big Bear Mountain in California and a Threedom Season Pass for 2000-2001 season.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to helping abused and neglected children find their way through the child welfare and juvenile court systems to safe, loving and permanent homes. CASA of New Hampshire has over 300 citizen volunteers that have advocated for nearly 2000 children across the state of New Hampshire.

For more information and to register for the event call Loon Mountain at 1-800-229-LOON, check out www.loonmtn.com, or call CASA at 603-626-4600. Loon Mountain is located just 2 hours north of Boston, along the scenic Kancamagus Highway in Lincoln, New Hampshire.
