Telluride Gets Eight Inches January 26, 2000
TELLURIDE, Colo. (Jan. 26, 2000) - Winter has struck Telluride in full force with the latest storm, dropping eight inches of powder in the past 24 hours, and 17 inches in the past seven days. The Telluride Ski & Golf Company (Telski) reports 97 percent of the mountain open with a mid-mountain base of 32 inches. Snowboarders can ride through powder conditions on 687 acres with 59 of 66 trails and 12 of 12 lifts open.
The National Weather Service predicts another three to five inches of snow today with continual snow forecasted through the weekend for the Telluride area in southwest Colorado. Lift ticket prices for adults are $57, $30 for children and $36 for seniors (65-69).
"The snow is building up and it's time for everyone to come out and experience what our mountain has to offer," said Bill Marshall, Telski marketing representative. "Whether you're skiing, snowboarding, playing in the Surge Air Garden, snowbiking or taking a lesson, the snow is fabulous and fun."
Lucky recipients of the plentiful snow are participants of the 18th annual Women's Weeks hosted by the Telluride Ski & Snowboard School. Taking place this week, as well as Feb. 7-10 and Feb. 28-March 3, Women's Weeks are designed and taught by women for women to enhance learning, adventure and fun.
