13th Annual Winterfest at Seven Springs Mountain Resort

By Press Release

January 31, 2000

CHAMPION, Pa., Jan. 31 -- Say goodbye to boredom and get into the snow by joining Seven Springs and WTAE-TV for their 13th Annual Winterfest Celebration! The winter fun begins February 5, and continues until February 13.

Winterfest 2000 will kick-off on Saturday, February 5, with the Celebrity Olympics, featuring WTAE personalities and Pittsburgh Steelers. Watch as your favorite stars demonstrate their strength and finesse during humorous winter events. Saturday evening's highlight will be the torchlight parade at 6 PM on Stowe Slope.

Be sure to watch "Winterfest at Seven Springs" a television broadcast hosted by Michelle Wright on Saturday night, February 5, at 7 PM. The show will take viewers to the festivities -- on and off the slopes with features on the science of snowmaking with WTAE-TV meteorologist Jerry Martz, a piece on the history of Seven Springs and to catch highlights of what Seven Springs and Winterfest have to offer!

A concert featuring General Hospital's Wally Kurth and the Kurth & Taylor band will be held Sunday afternoon, February 6, at 2 PM. Proceeds will benefit Project Bundle-Up and the Kurth & Taylor Foundation.

Skiers and non-skiers alike can enjoy Winterfest. This year's schedule of events includes snow tubing races, an obstacle course event, an ice carving exhibition, ski races for all ages and ability levels, speed skiing, freestyle snowboarding, and much more. The list of indoor events include plenty of kids- activities and games for adults.

Also, browse through the Winterfest Craft Show each Saturday from 12 Noon to 8 PM and Sundays from 12 Noon to 6 PM in Festival Hall. Admission to the craft show is free.

A one-time Winterfest registration fee of $7 allows guests to participate in unlimited events and includes a Winterfest T-shirt. For more information or a schedule of daily events, call Seven Springs Mountain Resort at 814.352.7777 or 800.452.2223.
