Storm Leaves Four Feet At Snowbird
By Press Release
March 14, 2002

More than 43 inches of snow has fallen at the base of Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort in the last three days and it's still snowing. The Little Cottonwood Canyon resort that received 100 inches in 100 hours in November has recorded 43.5 inches in the last 42 hours.

In the first 14 days of March, Snowbird has received 71 inches at the base and 100 inches at mid-mountain. The latest snowfall has averaged 7 percent water density with the latest 10 inches containing 5 percent water.

Snowbird is well on its way to reaching its annual average of 500 inches of snow with more than 444 inches as of today and a base of 142 inches at mid-mountain.

Additional accumulations are expected through the weekend with multiple storms on the radar. "It will continue to snow for the foreseeable future," said a member of Snowbird's Snow Safety Department.
