Weather routing
Not a good omen for the holiday weather in the north. Weather expert Meeno Schrader explains how sailors should plan in this case. "How is the weather on the 27th June behaves, it will be the same for seven weeks," - this is a country saying. Or: "If on the 27th June rains, then it rains all seven weeks." When voting this folk wisdom, the weather is now seven weeks as today. The meanings of northern Germany and Denmark were: unstable, gusty and cool.
But even if this forecast should occur, it does not necessarily create an uncomfortable holiday. Who plans his route cleverly, according to the weather forecasts, can see the sun. How it explains YACHT weather expert Meeno Schrader of the world weather. He tells of his summer tour 2011, he, unlike many other sailors, did not fall into the water.
Whether for a weekend break or a holiday trip for several weeks, usually nobody sets sail, without having previously set a goal. Especially for longer sailing trips to the various stages of planning often begins quite in advance. That's all nice and good and fun too. Thus, however, it is soon over when the weather does not cooperate. So why not just turn the tables and set the next target for an only short term? In this way you can save yourself from quite often tedious cross strokes, long-lasting showers or strong winds. All of them are easy to sail. It works! The magic formula of meteorological navigation. Requirement: The crew should be open to any destination. And they must always come close to date and be reliable in all kinds of weather.
In cases of such sailing, both must be ok. The family should be encouragingly flexible, the crew must be flexible too, even those of them who can get aboard later. And with own weather routing program on the laptop, you’ll feel well prepared. Current records with all relevant cruising wind and weather information must be received daily by e-mail or you can also be told where to direct better over the Internet from the weather server world. But concretely: for example you plan direction Swedish west archipelago, and later on to Norway. The evaluation of the weather models for the first 15 days of the trip could be not very encouraging. The trip up north would fully go under the clothes. Too cold. Too rainy. Too windy. Unlike the East. But in reality, standing under greater influence of high pressure, there can be a lot more views of sun, two to three degrees warmer and much less rain, than predicted.
