A Coach's Diary: Welcome to My Nightmare
by Peter Foley

Today didn't go so great. A combination of difficult snow conditions and an insanely turny first course, took the Americans out of the picture in the Women's GS. Close to half of the first seed encountered major problems. I never imagined it could turn out this bad. Rosey and Lisa went out on the same gate. Betsy rode well, but started a turn too soon toward the bottom of the pitch and went through a panel. Sondra got caught up and did a 360 in the easy upper part of the course, but fought hard the rest of the way down. It was a huge mistake though, and it put her in 16th place. She went all out on the second run from 16th starting position and was able to finish in the top 5 for the second run, but 12th overall.

Ouch,
Peter
