BOARDING FOR BREAST CANCER (BBC) ANNOUNCES MUSIC LINE-UP FOR ITS

4TH ANNUAL SNOWBOARD + MUSIC FESTIVAL, PRESENTED BY POLO SPORT

Today, BBC announced Blink 182, Less Than Jake, Ozomatli, Alkaholiks, a special performance by former members of Porno For Pyros: Stephen Perkins, Mike Watt, and Peter DiStefano, and Spearhead as the music line-up at Boarding For Breast Cancer’s 4th Annual Snowboard + Music Festival, presented by Polo Sport, to be held on Saturday, April 17th at Sierra-At-Tahoe, CA.

BBC is the youth-focused, non-profit organization working to elevate awareness among today’s youth and raise funds for breast cancer research and educational projects. The organization’s annual snowboard + music festival combines snowboard exhibitions by the world’s top professional snowboarders like Shannon Dunn, Tina Basich, Noah Brandon, and Michele Taggart, breast cancer awareness and educational exhibits, and music performances by top bands, which in past years has included the Foo Fighters, Beastie Boys, Primus, and Luscious Jackson, for a one day blow out. The festival also includes a major product raffle and benefit sale with over $50,000 of snowboards and accessories, a chance to ride with pros, and free snowboard product demos.

BBC was inspired by Monica Steward, a leading snowboard clothing designer. Diagnosed with breast cancer at age 28, Monica dedicated herself to raising awareness of the disease among young people, and building support for research and education.

Over the past three years, through the generous support of individuals, the snowboard and music industries, and major corporations, BBC’s Snowboard + Music Festival has been able to spread an awareness message to millions, while raising over $237,000 for the cause.

This year, Polo Sport has joined BBC, as the Presenting Sponsor of the festival. Returning as Associate Sponsor is Burton Snowboards. Supporting Sponsors include Mountain Dew, ESPN’s Summer X-Games in San Francisco, Nike ACG, JNCO, Vans, Salomon/Bonfire, Sims, Convert, Clif Bar, Fitness Magazine, and Snowboarding Online.

At this year’s festival, BBC is working toward a goal of a capacity crowd of 7,000 spectators and over $100,000 for the cause. Proceeds from this year’s festival will be donated to The Breast Cancer Fund, The Susan G. Komen Foundation, and The Nina Hyde Center For Breast Cancer Research-Georgetown University Medical Center.

BBC’s Snowboard + Music Festival depends on event ticket sales, rider registration fees, on-site raffle and product sales, sponsor and public donations.

We are seeking assistance from media to help raise awareness and funding to fight breast cancer. Please add BBC’s Snowboard + Music Festival to your event calendar listing, include BBC’s Snowboard + Music Festival in your editorial coverage plan and/or place a BBC PSA ad in your publication.
